I own 2 rides, a Paiste Alpha Rock 22" and a recently acquired second hand A Custom Precision 21". My main band band is basically a sludge/post metal band, but with a versatile sound - from clean passages to heavy greasy grooves to occasional blast beats. I bought the Zijdian because I wanted to have a less washy ride along with my very crashable Alpha so I can change them depending on song requirements.
Along the way I bought some Turkish brand (Masterwork) crashes and really got it into a darker sound. So I went on a quest for a unicorn ride that has a strong ping, is dark and crashable but still able to cut thru. My research led me to Zildjian K Dark Medium Ride 22 which looks to be amazing although it is pricy and no way for me to find used in my local SH market. I am waiting for a local shop to stock it, but before that I wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a similarly versatile ride that leans on darker side of the spectrum.
I don't need store recommendations (shipping from EU/US/CA to my place is insanely expensive and I prefer being able to try the thing out before purchasing), just models, I want to see if I might have missed any in my search and if I'm able to find it used or ask local distributors to order it for me. I'm open to any brands really. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.
