NEED HELP: Loving Wayland and Cosmic but HUGE issues with 4K res

Hello fellow Linux enthusiasts :)

I've recently said good-bye to Windows and fully switched to Pop!_os. I saw it was the best distro for my hardware specs (I have an MSI Creator 15 laptop from bought in 2020). I'm new on Linux so I'm sorry in advance for the possible mistakes I'll make while explaining:

Here come the two main issues I'm having:

1- Completely unable to use another res on my laptop screen that is not 4k -which is the native res- (1920x1080 for example non-existent in display options, no other options shown on wlr-randr). I tried with many commands, tried getting help from Gemini and Deepseek but I'm still not able to SET another res that is not the native 4k. Not even forcing it manually.

I've also been playing around with desktop environments and found plasma with x11 DETECTS my resolution and I can change it even from the display options. Cosmic with Wayland doesn't seem to detect any more at all...

I feel like I have tried absolutely everything (unplugging my external monitor, rebooting and sudoing the hell out of everything hahah) for it to work on cosmic with wayland but I am just stuck.

2-Thermal throttling with my CPU (probably partly caused by me not changing the thermal paste for several years lol but I didn't have big issues on Win10 before this, still planning to do that).

Thanks so much in advance

(Please ask if needed, I'll provide as much info as I can)
