What are some PA-S1 student essentials?

Hi!

Starting school in August and I already have mostly all I need for a place to live but I’m just curious about what I need as a student for comfort? I’m waiting for Apple to have their back-to-school event for the IPad Air (with pencil and Magic Keyboard) and buying a brand new backpack and I got a stethoscope for Christmas. Anything else? I heard buying a whiteboard is also smart?

Thank you for anyone who responds and sorry for any grammar mistakes!!!

Day#1- Just started 6H + Vitamin b6 today 🙂

Hi!

I (24F) wanted to make this post as my start to treating my ltbi. I found out I had latent tb a couple of weeks ago officially when screening for PA school.

I was initially put on 4R but had anaphylaxis reaction.

Today I feel very active, I have clear skin, no pain or aches. No stomachache or anything GI related (maybe need more fiber but yeah lol). No yellowing of my eyes. I don’t feel weird. My labs have arrived back normal for my liver. My menstrual cycle is normal.

I hope and pray I don’t have any sx or that I adjust well. I’m doing this so I don’t have to worry about active TB in the future and I for sure will be wearing a mask all through out clinical year of PA school.

I hope this doesn’t harm my education as well. I should be done around 11/8/2026 😀.

I will update every so often if I experience anything. I wanted to do this as well for anyone starting medication and on a longer treatment plan and to hold myself accountable as I have never before in my life taken daily medication and especially not ones that can have horrible side effects 😭.

Anyways, thank you for anyone reading this and sorry for any grammar mistakes!!!

Hi!

So I legit started 4R last night at 9pm and within about 10-20 minutes of taking the dose I felt pressure on my chest, fast heart beating, felt like I couldn’t swallow or breathe. These symptoms lasted about 10-20 minutes as well. I was talking to my bf through the whole thing to see if things got worse and thankfully they subsided and all I had was itching left that is now gone.

I called my health care providers advice line and they were really concerned told me to go to the ER and sent a message over to my preventative medicine provider. I ended up seeing how I felt and made my bf and mom aware and we stated wake until 2am to see if I had a secondary reaction. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

I still want to take medication and treat ltb. Are there any other short term treatments away from the Rifamycin family?

Thank you for anyone who reads this and responds!
