Hi all,

I did find others asking this question but the answers were varied and not as relevant to my specific circumstances so I thought I'd ask myself. I just got accepted to UCLA for the Fall of 2026, but received an email from this honors society for community colleges. I realize it's for life but is the cost of $100 worth it for someone that has already been accepted to a four year college?

I've heard that it doesn't have as much merit outside of your transfer application. I've also heard they offer exclusive scholarships or that you can receive scholarships at the 4 year colleges just for being a member. I'm a non-traditional student that's returned after more than ten years away (never finished my AA), and I've qualified for FAFSA. I've applied to several specific scholarships within UCLA's portal that are specific to my circumstances (like one for students returning to school after more than 5 years away).

Anyways, I'd just like to hear everyone's thoughts! I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment with trying to figure out what the next two years will look like and all the personal essays I've been writing for scholarships so was hoping to get some help on this.

Thank you for anything you're willing to share!
