My first model I've painted after printing.

Hey there! I have a few friends who are into tabletop painting, and my work specialised in materials for prop making and art so I've wanted to work on my painting for a while.

I've owned paints and an air brush for ages but really only painted with aerosols on larger models and props, so I scoured a few sites to find a model kit that called to me, printed and got ready to paint.

it's my first time trying to paint a model, this one is 1/6.

I started with a primer of the grey tamiya and for the body I covered it with a pink base coat.

I wanted to practise shadows and highlights so I mixed up a darker purple and tried to lightly hit the areas that I thought would create a shadow with the light coming from above to its left but I feel like it just looks like I painted areas solid purple without much fading.

I did the highlights ontop at first with an airbrush but was way too heavy, I tried again with a dry brush to put them in very lightly.

looking at a picture of the character I wanted to try the highest spots they were drawn with just white but thats where I think I went wrong, they're top bold and dont fit well so I tried blending them a bit more with a dry brush again.

I know it's not great work but its better than what I expected for my first practise painting it.

the base was easy with just a primer, black gloss, and airbrush of liquid silver, the gold belt and tried my best for the lettering but a shaky hand and frayed brush made that difficult.

I have another copy of the body being printed now and would like to try again, any advice?
