For conventional deadlift when I grab the bar how far do my knees have to be unlocked? Is it stiff legged or slight bend at the knee's? Additional question. Watching starting strength, what does Mark mean by bend at the waist?

Had a couple quick questions. Deadlifts have been clicking lately but needed to make a reminder to repeat it

  1. What's does Mark rippetoe mean by bend at the waist?

  2. Is it setting up stiff legged or slight bend in knees?

I had a question regarding hamstring tension. So when I'm taking the slack out with my whole body, I'm trying to push my hands away from my chest before I put my shins to the bar. Do I need to wedge backwards more until I feel that hamstring tension?
