Gdańsk with kids – is Old Town worth it or better to stay in Wrzeszcz?
Hey folks,
We’re a family of 5 (me, my mom, my wife, and two kids – 4 and 6) visiting Gdańsk for 4 nights in early May, and I’m a bit stuck choosing where to stay.
The obvious option is Old Town, but we’re not really into crowded places or drunk tourist vibes, especially with kids.
Right now I’m considering an apartment near Partyzantów street (Wrzeszcz area), but I’m not sure if that’s a good base or if we’d regret not staying more central.
Our plan is pretty relaxed but active:
- definitely explore Gdańsk Old Town
- visit Gdynia
- spend time walking along the beach (Sopot or elsewhere)
- we’re happy to walk a lot and use public transport everywhere (no car)
We don’t care about nightlife -cmore like a good meal and a couple of beers in a beer garden (we are beer people haha ), then back “home” around 9pm.
We’d also love some kid-friendly things (parks, maybe museums if there are good ones for this age).
So I guess my main question:
Would you recommend staying in Wrzeszcz as a base, or is Old Town still the better choice even with the crowds?
Any tips or local insight appreciated 🙂
