Regret mess you've made, want to go back + fix it

Hey everyone! I'm seeking books (preferably literary fiction, but I'm open to anything) that are about regret and guilt over feeling like you've destroyed your own life. Yearning to go back to where it all went wrong and do it differently, unmake it all and fix it. Grief over wasting so much time when if you had just done things differently, you could have lived a much better life. I'd like some suggestions where there's a degree of hope that things can get better, but also open to books that don't have happy endings/are pretty hopeless
