Spotted a surviving piece of old Siliguri today 🚖

Found this old-school auto standing quietly in a corner of Central Colony today, and it unlocked a whole storage room of childhood memories. Back when I was growing up in Siliguri, these used to be everywhere. The shape, the sound, the rattling body, even the way they leaned while turning… felt like a permanent part of the town’s soundtrack.

Now it’s mostly Tata Magic and newer autos everywhere, and these have almost vanished like retired side characters from an old Doordarshan episode. Seeing one again after so many years felt oddly comforting. Rusted, abandoned, half-forgotten… but still standing there like it refuses to leave the timeline completely.

Anyone else remembers these running around North Bengal?

POV: your tattoo finally meets its source material

Tattoo artist: “How committed are you to this mountain?”
Me: goes to Darjeeling to sync the tattoo with the original terrain 🏔️

Being from Siliguri, Kanchenjunga was never just scenery. It was the constant in the distance. The thing that silently reminded you where you belonged.

I’ve spent years away from home now, and somewhere along the way I got this tattoo as a way of carrying that feeling with me. Getting to film the tattoo with the real mountain behind it felt like a small full-circle moment.

People from the hills and the Dooars probably understand this feeling. You grow up seeing Kanchenjunga so often that you almost take it for granted, until you move away and suddenly miss it more than expected.

That’s one of the reasons I got the tattoo. Not just because the mountain looks beautiful, but because it reminds me of home every single time I look at it.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some guidance from folks who’ve been through this path or are currently in B-schools.

My background -

• 18 months at Wipro (ITES)
•27 months at Tech Mahindra (ITES)
•Started as Associate → promoted to Associate Quality (handled quality monitoring, process improvement, audits, etc.)

I’ve given CAT 2025 and I got 90.23 percentile and will most likely be joining a Tier-2 MBA college this year.

My dilemma: Given my background in operations + quality, I’m trying to figure out: Which specialization would make the most sense for me? What skills should I start building now and during MBA so that I can land a solid role post-MBA?

Specializations I’m considering -

• Operations / Supply Chain
• Business Analytics
• Maybe Consulting (not sure how realistic from a T2 college)

What I want post-MBA: A role that actually values my prior experience (not a complete reset), good growth trajectory (not stuck in repetitive work again) and decent pay obviously.

Questions -

  1. Does my profile align better with Ops, Analytics, or something else?
  2. How realistic is consulting from a T2 college with my background?
  3. What tools/skills should I focus on before and during MBA? (Excel, SQL, Python, Six Sigma, etc.?)
  4. Any certifications that actually help during placements?

Would really appreciate honest advice, even if it’s blunt.

Thanks in advance!
