Passengers on the Orox
I am trying to decide if the Orox is the right bike for me. I live in a small rural town where the easiest way to work is on smooth, well maintained dirt trails that are meant for skiing and moutain biking. There is a paved bike trail to the grocery stores on the edge of town. I really want a bike with a belt drive because I have ADHD and am awful at regular maintenance. I want my bike to be able to haul some cargo and maybe bike to the local crag with my climbing stuff or swimming hole or whatever, although I doubt I'll ever be hauling anything near the payload of the Orox. And of course, the Rohloff and mid-drive Bosch motor are just unmatched. The high frame and difficulty of transporting it are pretty real cons for me as well.
I imagine there are probably quite a few electric mid-tails that can handle the trails i plan on doing and I get can them for way cheaper, albeit lower quality in a bunch of ways. But one other thing that, at least on paper, sets the Orox apart is the ability to have an adult passenger, which I absolutely love. I won't be hauling kids around, but the option of bringing another person into town or whatever is really appealing. I feel like I've run into the scenario multiple times where I want to go somewhere with a friend but they don't have their bike so we ended up driving. But, I've read that having a passenger with the Orox is actually really cumbersome and not a great experience. Is it worth the extra $ to get the Orox or should I find another solution?
Note: this won't be a total car replacement for me because of the lack of public transit for when I need to leave town
