Looking for a pilot DPSCD school to start an educational program.
I am the founder of Detroit Hearts & Hounds and I am currently in the process of finding a school within Detroit to pilot my program. It would be completely free and all materials are provided.
What is Detroit Hearts & Hounds?
It’s a nonprofit K–12 educational program embedded in Detroit Public Community Schools that teaches children empathy, responsibility, and community through animal care and compassion for dogs. Programming begins entirely in the
classroom in the earliest grades and grows into real, hands-on shelter volunteering by high school — creating a meaningful pipeline
from childhood curiosity to teenage leadership.
I really need just one school to say yes in order to start making an impact and finding one has proven to be really difficult.
