Has anyone successfully disputed an FPI (now Asset) overcharge on move out?
FPI on its usual bs trying to charge for normal wear and tear and overcharge in general. I got a paint charge reduced but it really should’ve been reduced to $0 because I had no wall damage or mounted tv etc etc. They’re just trying to put normal unit flipping maintenance onto tenants. Has anyone successfully fought back? If so, how?
Their system also automatically sent the wrong move out charge to a collections company, so the property manager is working on getting that fixed for me, but seriously? It had the wrong move out (owed date) and wrong amount. Why was that ever allowed to be sent out? I’ve also been in constant contact about the charges and we’ve been working on them so again, why was it even sent out?
On the move out letter they say if you pay in 1-20 days it can go to the complex but then 20-30 days it goes to this third party collection company. Is that even legal? I thought everything landlord/tenant wise operated on 30 days.
