After a few leaking rivets and a general acceptance that my old goat of a boat was getting tired, I decided to give her a facelift. A lot of welding, a 3 stage Wetlander kit, and a redfish themed engine cover, I'm about a third of the way through the project. I'll continue sharing if it peaks anyone's interest. I bought the boat 5 years ago, reinforced the transom, welded some beavertail pods on it, and put a 40 horse yamaha with a tiller conversion on it. Over the years I've added an adjustable jackplate, a 6' deck extension, and played around with different prop pitches. Now it's getting a false bottom aluminum floor, i gutted the rotted carpet and waterlogged closed cell foam that I installed when i first got it. My plan is to try to reduce a little weight with the flooring and shift the weight of the battery to the front of the boat. Before the start of this build, I could get 32-33mph out of it with a 15 pitch prop. Hoping to see 35mph and no more water intrusion. Happy boating to the cruisers and happy fishing to the other fisherman! "Go ahead and spend $500 restoring that old Jonboat. It'll be the best $1200 investment you ever made. 5 grand is a small price to pay for your happiness"
