White Sand Beach / Mississippi River

Hi all!

Day 6 of sketching!

It’s a little chilly out today, definitely a little wet, but a desire to keep the momentum persisted.

So! I made it to white sand beach, after riding around the parkway, taking a brief trip into St. Paul, back over the Franklin bridge, and finally settling on the unmarked but promising looking stairs going down towards the river.

Not too populous out today — so the sketch remains with me. Still trying to figure out prints for those interested, too :)

Thanks for looking!

Mississippi River Lock and Dam No. 1

Hi all!

Decided to give the lock and dam a visit today. Spent about an hour and a quarter on a sketch today, mostly without other people anywhere to be found.

Alas, just as I was wrapping up a group of people came through and the sketch could be handed off to someone else enjoying the view!

Apologies for cutting off the left side in the photo— the wind kept trying to take the paper from me.

Back to pen/ink today :)

Keewaydin Park Sketch

Hi all!

Trying to keep my momentum of finishing sketches; weekends are a little trickier, alas I ended up doing things different today.

This drawing/sketch/piece was actually started last summer. I had to put it down since it just wasn’t working for me — so I decided I’d see if I could use it as a starting point for today.

My youngest was very excited to present the drawing to another dad with two girls at the park :) - so joy has been spread, and mission accomplished!

Bonus— I added a mid-process image for contest where it came from. Final drawing is ink, posca marker, sharpie creative markers (acrylic inc), and posca oil pencils on paper.

Lake Nokomis Sketch

Day 4!

Quick (45m?) sketch of lake Nokomis from little beach while kiddos were playing. Handed this one off to a family with a little one who were playing at the same time.

Thanks for looking :)

Minnehaha Depot Sketch

Another warm, sunny, spring day in the city!

Back out and around I went to keep up with a sketch a day.

Minnehaha falls and along the parkway have so many beautiful nooks and views. I think I’ll try a few more days there — open to suggestions on places around the falls / Mississippi River / Nokomis areas!

Didn’t get to give this one away just yet; had to head out before completion this time. Anywho, here’s my quick take on the Minnehaha Depot.

Sketch from above Minnehaha Falls

Another beautiful day occurred, and as such another chance to go sketch!

Today I tried more pen and ink, featuring mostly foliage and flowing water.

The folks from the National Parks Foundation saw it in passing at put it on their table for the afternoon :)

Thanks for looking!

Minneapolis / Twin Cities art thread?

Hi all!

I may try to make some daily sketches around the city / rivers / creeks / lakes … and I’m floored by the overwhelmingly positive response to the sketch I posted yesterday.

That said, I’m not looking to spam the general Minneapolis Reddit — is there a best thread for local arts?

My first handful of searches didn’t get anywhere so I’m asking the community what’s best.

Thanks!

Sketch at Minnehaha Falls

Hi there—

I met a few parents and kids while sketching this afternoon and one girl asked if she could keep the drawing.

I said she could when it was done, but her and her mom headed out before then. Just in case they (or their parents) visit Reddit Minneapolis, here’s the final drawing!

I ended up giving the physical sketch to Otis who was fishing around the creek the whole time— maybe next time I’ll hand it off to you!

Hi all—

I’m looking for a way to save a PDF attachments to the correct folder the first time.

Not going to downloads, moving the file, and renaming — but downloading and naming the file in one step from the first click.

Using Windows 11 and current protonmail version.

The closest I’ve come still requires two clicks and has two different download buttons that show up, which is confusing. Any ideas?

Hello,

I’m a 33m in Minnesota. I was scratching this area a couple nights ago without realizing there were bumps; then noticed I have one itchy bump on my other arm in addition to these. The photo is of the inside of my left arm near the joint (whatever the inside of elbow is referred to).

I’m very familiar with mosquito bites, so not that. They just look strange and figured I’d ask if anyone had a guess whats happened — ie does this look like illness or infection, or should it clear up and maybe allergy… or is there a specific bug that found me recently?

Thank you!
