Hospitalized with mastitis - please share your experiences

I have a 3 week old at home. Been having reoccurring mastitis in both breasts for 2 weeks now. After spiking a high fever + chills + pain, my OB put me on oral antibiotics; however by day 3 I started having fever, chills, pain again so I went to the ER and was put on 3 different IV antibiotics. Currently hospitalized going on day 4. My labs are looking better, ultrasound showed no abscess, but my breast is still quite red with hard lumps and ridges on my underboob (although there is slight improvement in color and swelling, since I was admitted). I’ve been pumping every two-ish hours (took a break from breastfeeding as she wasn’t latching and may have triggered the mastitis). Doctors are concerned that it could turn into an abscess and/or I’m not getting better fast enough.

Has anyone been on IV antibiotics and gotten better but still had redness and swelling and lumps in their breast ? Has anyone had an abscess appear later, after their course of IV antibiotics? Please share your experiences. I feel very vulnerable and alone hospitalized being away from my newborn :(.
