My niece is moving to Melbourne for a job at the University. It seems like there isn’t an option for accommodation at the university itself. Can anyone recommend which suburbs or neighbouring suburbs to look for rentals at?

Thinking in terms of safety, ease of public transport, and price/general availability. She’ll be looking for a place to rent with her spouse. Would love to hear the locals’ personal opinions and experiences. Thank you!
