Ayaneo Pocket DMG: Thoughts and Gamehub
I am a relatively new owner of a Black/16GB/512GB Pocket DMG. I wanted to offer some thoughts on it. My Gamehub experience is posted as a comment.
- Good but quirky device
- Controls are good except that for the trackpad challenges and the triggers/bumpers can be awkward
- Trackpad is challenging for camera adjustment and unusable for FPS. There are only a few sensitivity settings. Fine tuning is impossible.
- Screen has significant banding/mura. This is only visible on solid screens. Otherwise it is good.
- Speakers are surprisingly good
- Fan is super loud on max settings but okay otherwise. It can keep the device cool.
- Fingerprint Reader works well
- OEM Mesh case is fine. Put your device in upside down. The flap can be used to wipe the device/screen.
- 3D printed TPU case available at various sellers is terrible and does not fit. Ayaneo should have a TPU option for a $300-800 device. Shame!
- Device casing is already cracking slightly by the screws. Ayaneo offered to send a replacement case. Loosen your screws as soon as you get the device. I suspect that heat expansion caused the cracks.
- Black finish is painted and a terrible magnet for fingerprints and oils. Absolutely a shame on a device at this price.
- Android Buttons: too many, can never remember the purpose, unnecessary
- Charging is pretty fast. No issues there.
- Contrary to some videos, you can change the resolution of video out
- No headphone jack
- Difficult to find a bottom dock other than OEM because the device bottom is thick.
- Performance is everything that you would expect. it is very good.
Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. However, Ayaneo needs to fix the challenges above going forward.
