Passmark Scores for 2025 (285H) vs 2026 (386H) LG Gram Pro 17 RTX 5050

I purchased both the 2026 and 2025 versions of the laptop and only plan on keeping one of them. I ran passmark scores for both on battery and plugged in. Here they are:

2025 on battery

2025 plugged in

2026 on battery

2026 plugged in

I am using the laptop primarily for 2D Cad using CabinetVision. I also use MS Office and SketchUp a lot.

From what I can tell the 386H maintains performance better on battery. I am interested in the memory and disk scores. CabinetVision is constantly querying SQL so those scores may result in a snappier experience. I am still testing.

Aside from the benchmarks, my initial impressions of the two laptops are:

2026 is a touch screen model with a glossy surface over the IPS display. This is a negative for my use case. In fact, looking at the screens next to each other the matte screen of the 2025 laptop looks better.

The 2026 uses the fans more aggressively. I wasn't expecting this. I have both laptops on max performance while plugged in and balanced mode while on battery. In the LG Gram app I have both set to max fans.

The 2026 was only available in a bronze color and I don't care for it.

The display on the 2026 wobbles a lot more than the 2025 does. This may in part be due to it being thicker and presumably heavier. It's a noticeable amount.

Both laptops lost the same amount of battery while running the tests, at least according to the battery percentage in the taskbar.

Keyboards feel the same. Although the deck of the 2026 is slightly thicker and it is noticeable while typing.

Summary: if I don't notice a performance benefit to the 2026 model during daily work I will be keeping the 2025. I think the display, quieter fans, and overall weight of the 2025 is better.
