Are Buffy/Spike and Buffy/Angel examples of the "I can fix him" fantasy?

The "I can fix him" meme refers to the romantic fantasy that you can change or reform a partner with toxic or even psychotic traits just by inspiring them with love.

Now, Buffy didn't try to inspire Spike to change in S6, and one could say Spike decided to "fix himself" by getting a soul. I disagree, because a soul does not actually fix someone. It is the work you do on yourself with a soul. Spike was crazy in a basement when Buffy found him, and it was her taking responsibility for and inspiring him that made him a Champion. The same could be said about her taking care of Angel when he returned from Hell feral and when she talked him out of suicide, although to a lesser extent.

What is something you truly enjoyed/appreciated in a pairing you were not a fan of?

No funny answers such as "Riley left."

I really enjoyed most of Buffy and Spike's back and forth, and it's hard to deny they have by far the hottest scenes on the show. I liked the moodiness of Buffy trying to stay away from him in Dead Things (it also made me love Out of This World by Bush). I really liked their scenes in OMWF and at the end of Tabula Rasa.

I don't think there's anyone I'm missing as a possibility.
