New router(s)? Help a n00b
Hello! I do not know much about routers, which is why I am asking for help.
At the moment, I have two Asus ZenWiFi AC8 units from 2019. They only support Wi-Fi 5 and stopped receiving updates in 2022. They are currently placed at the blue crosses in the image and connected via Ethernet.
In the apartment, which is 90 square meters, we have a 1 Gbit internet connection. The walls are plasterboard with some kind of thin wooden reinforcement. The bathroom, which is located in the middle of the apartment, has some kind of metal reinforcement in the walls, which means the Wi-Fi signal there is usually noticeably weaker.
My main question is: should we continue using two routers in a mesh setup, or would a newer Wi-Fi 7 router placed at the red cross be enough? We have quite a lot of Wi-Fi devices (phones, tablets, computer, robot vacuum, and 7 HomePods). I am planning to connect the Apple TV and Nintendo Switch via Ethernet.
I would also appreciate recommendations for routers that are stable and future-proof. Thanks!
