I'm considering the rail pass, but I have a few concerns. How do guaranteed connections work if you are booking in segments? How often do trains sell out with rail pass if booking one or two days before? Can you just do standing room if there arent seats?

I booked a ticket to LA on the coast starlight, but depending on who im getting picked up by burbank might be the better option. Can I ask mid ride to get off at burbank?
