I recently bought a radio for scanning GMRS repeaters running from a local shopping center. The Hooters restaurant in the shopping center has a repeater turned so loud. I can hear it from miles away. The restaurant announced when their female staff has to be walked out back and customer credit card information all over the radio.

From a business perspective, internet-based push to talk systems using cell phones would be far more secure. We have done so much work with this over the years with data management that radios are the weak link for business communication.

I have been busy programming my new Beofang mini dual band radio (VHF/UHF). I have the Rx/Tx set for GMRS, MURS, Maritime, and Rx only for airband. Getting GMRS chatter on repeaters as well as local retail outlets. Does anyone else like the radio in Melbourne?
