Does adding website links in subreddit posts hurt or help for SEO?

I see people promoting their website links on subreddit posts. I sometimes do post links too, but it is just for adking for feedback or when I see topics discussing things that fit my website content. Does anyone have SEO benefits from adding your website link on a subreddit post or not?

What is the reason for website owners blocking AIs from accessing their content?

In the AI era, search is clearly shifting. People are no longer just typing keywords and browsing links. They’re asking questions and expecting direct answers, recommendations, and sources from AI tools.

The whole purpose of building a website has always been discovery. You want people to find your content, your product, or your ideas. But if you strictly follow traditional SEO playbooks while also blocking AI from accessing your content, you may be working against that goal. Traffic is starting to move toward AI-driven discovery, and ignoring that shift could mean losing a large portion of potential visitors.

I get why some site owners don’t want AI scraping their content. There are valid concerns around ownership and usage. If your content is publicly available on the internet, then visibility is part of the trade-off. Cutting off AI entirely raises the question: how do you expect new audiences to discover you as behavior changes?

What makes the situation more confusing is that some businesses spend huge amounts on ads just to get attention, while also limiting organic discovery through AI. That feels a bit contradictory.

It seems like the real challenge now isn’t just “SEO vs AI,” but figuring out how to adapt so your content can still be found in a world where discovery is changing fast.
