Traveling to London. (Possible trigger warning)
I’m headed to London for a business trip and have two questions.
First: it’s been years since I’ve worked in an office building, and my current (WFH) wardrobe consists mostly of jeans that don’t fit particularly well, t-shirts, and hooded sweatshirts. I want to be respectful and appropriately dressed, but I feel completely out of the loop when it comes to work attire. Is there anything I should definitely avoid—or anything you’d recommend having on hand? My office is in Canary Wharf.
Second, and this is the less fun one: although I’m a former New Yorker (aka hard ass, nothing can beat me down), I no longer enjoy exploring on my own. After being assaulted, solo travel feels much more intimidating, and I’m honestly pretty anxious about this trip. I genuinely love exploring… walking neighborhoods, learning about places, people-watching, trying new foods… but I feel much more comfortable doing that with someone.
Do you have any advice on neighborhoods or experiences that feel less touristy but relatively safe? Or are there any communities, groups, or resources you’d recommend I tap into so I can explore a bit without feeling so alone?
