how to do preorders on books

Someone asked me to do a preorder for a parade of horribles but i was unsure on how to do it, but when I looked at the stock in our store there was a lot of them but obviously we can’t sell it yet until its release date, right? So I just did a customer hold instead but now I’m thinking I did it wrong. If I click on hold doesn’t it print out a paper and you would have to find it? I’m a little confused on how to do it since I’m a little new to it. I just thought of this after work the other day and I don’t go back until later this week so I’m scared I made a mistake. Also, what does reservation mean? I never had to choose that option but idk if I was supposed to click that

I recently expressed how lost and confused I’ve been as a book seller since I applied for a barista position, and I haven’t been properly trained yet on the book floor for a while now. But, my sm has taken notice of how much I like manga (despite me telling her I read fiction more), and I feel somewhat confident whenever she asks me to shelve/organize the manga. I know a whole bunch about different series and I’m glad my sm lets me fix that section. I feel so much satisfaction when an entire series is presented nicely on the shelves along with its shelf talker, and I managed to fit every jjk volume possible without looking crazy (I notice some of my coworkers have trouble with shelving that series because of the CRAZY amount of jjk manga we have). So yeah, I’m happy with what I’m doing now and I just wanted to let everyone know that I am willing to continue learning the difficulties despite me being a barista, I really like my job and I feel happy 😁😁

When I first applied to BN I applied for the cafe position. I didn’t know that we would be cross trained, but after learning that, I was fine with it. My store is new so they had me switching over constantly which eventually led me to be on bookseller position more than cafe. I haven’t been properly trained at all and I’ve been figuring stuff out myself, and because of this, I’ve been making dumb mistakes. Even though my store has been open for like a few months, I still haven’t gotten the hang of being a bookseller. There’s so many questions that I still don’t know the answer to, I try my best to get better at shelving, and I try to be as resourceful as possible for customers. It’s not that I hate being a bookseller, but compared to my coworkers, they know everything and I have to constantly ask them questions and I feel embarrassed because it’s probably a simple answer. Meanwhile in the cafe, because I was trained, I feel more confident and I can do things myself without asking. I’ve also asked my store and assistant manager for help regarding simple things and not once have they looked at me with disgust or anger with my questions because they understand that I’m still learning, so that makes me relieved, but I feel like I’m not learning fast enough and I make stupid mistakes 😭
