Cymbal Setup Advice

Hey,

Recently assembled my first acoustic kit - Yamaha Stage Custom Birch - 20"x17, 10", 12", 14", 14"x5.5.

I got a small initial set of Paiste PST 7 cymbals - 14" Light Hi-hat, 16" Thin Crash, 20" Heavy Ride. I then got a good price on a 900 Series 18" Regular Dark crash and added that as well.

We tend to play more heavy stuff - mostly Deftones like songs and bands and after we finished our studio and started playing, I noticed that the hi-hat is lacking in terms of volume and it gets lost in the mix.

There is a chance for me to return it and exchange either for a PST 7 Heavy or a 900 Series regular (which is medium top / heavy bottom). Given that I already have the 18 crash and lean towards a more dark and warm tone, would that be the better fit?

I also wonder what to do with the rest of the cymbals - I like the Heavy Ride, I think it fits well and gives a good contrast to the dark cymbals and use the 16" Thin for quick accents.

How would you expand and balance this whole setup - it's my first time assembling an acoustic and I'm a little bit overwhelmed.

edit: I was also thinking of gradually replacing the PST7 entirely, and either sell them or keep them as a separate set for other music styles.
