I'm making a fan made Metro TTRPG

I would gladly hear your opinions and requests!

The system is based on Cyberpunk RED and Lancer, with a lot of inspiration taken from other systems as well. I'm an experienced gamemaster myself, and making something of my own has been a dream of mine for a long time.

my favorite way of leveling up

i've been gming in Marvel Heroic RPG (based on Cortex Prime) for over 4 years now, and i really like the way it handles leveling up. so let's take a look at a character sheet in this system

>Alias: SPEED

Name: Thomas Shepherd [secret]

Affiliations (how good does a character perform in different circumstances): Solo d10; Buddy d6; Team d8

Distinctions (personal traits): COCKY; HEADSTRONG; JUVIE RECORD;

Power Sets (what your character can and cannot do)

HYPERFAST EXISTENCE

Superhuman Reflexes d10, Superhuman Speed d10

SFX: Can’t Touch This. Double a Hyperfast Existence power for one reaction to an attack action. If that reaction fails, add a die to the doom pool equal to the normal rating of that power die.
SFX: Quick to Heal. Spend 1 PP to recover physical stress or step down physical trauma by -1.
Limit: Exhausted. Shut down Hyperfast Existence power to gain 1PP. Activate an opportunity or participate in a Transition Scene to recover that power.
Limit: Hothead. Step up emotional stress from opponents that provoke or otherwise tick off Speed to gain 1 PP.
Limit: Mutant. Earn 1 PP when affected by mutant-specific Milestones and tech.

Specialties (your chatacter's knowledge) Crime Expert d8

Milestones:

YOUNG CRIMINAL

1 XP When you talk to the police or adults about your misadventures.
3 XP When you commit a crime just because you can. Or for the sake of protest.
10 XP When you either get imprisoned for your many crimes, or go clean and take on the life of a superhero.

CAN'T OUTRUN YOUR HOMEWORK, PAL

1 XP When you talk to your classmates about how long and boring your classes are.
3 XP When you mess around in school using your speed.
10 XP When you either get caught while performing your little pranks, or decide to take your studies seriously so you can actually graduate.

so you get XP for performing certain tasks. like, in this example, tommy can get 1 XP for discussing his previous crimes, his pranks and such. it can happen a few times during a scene. then he gets 3 xp for stealing a can of coka-cola, or a policeman's gun. this can happen a few times during a session. and then there's 1 thing that can happen only once or twice during a campaign. a life-changing event, for which tommy gets 10 xp.

and the way this system handles spending those xp is really cool:

>You can spend 5 XP to do the following…

• Replace an existing Distinction with a new one.
• Add or replace a Limit in a Power Set.
• Switch two Affiliation traits.
• Unlock a minor Event resource.

You can spend 10 XP to do the following…

• Add a new SFX to a Power Set.
• Step up a d6 or d8 power trait by one step.
• Add a new d6 power trait to a Power Set.
• Remove a Limit from a Power Set that has two or more Limits.
• Unlock a major Event resource. You can spend 15 XP to do the following…

You can spend 15 XP to do the following…

• Step up a d10 power trait by one step.
• Replace an existing Power Set with a new one.
• Add a new Expert Specialty or upgrade an existing Expert to Master

for me, this system feels very smooth and fluid. the players keep getting rewared for their actions each session, and even though some get more than others, the way this system works doesn't make it seem too imbalanced. and, most importantly, you can make it so some players get rewarded for roleplay, while others get rewarded for combat. win-win! what do you think about it? what's your favorite way of rewarding your players?
