Playing 11/12 | Suggestions/Predictions/Discussions

Hello everyone,

As you must have noticed, we have had quite a growth in our sub. As we speak our sub is 34k strong.

It's special to be a part of such a vibrant community and a part of the fanbase of a successful franchise as KKR.

And to ensure that we continue growing, we need to maintain the quality of this sub and its posts. This is done to ensure you do not get spammed with low-effort posts and enhance your engagement experience with this sub.

As part of our efforts, we the Mod Team as a whole have decided to make a separate thread for Fan-made Playing XII Suggestions/Predictions/Discussions and etc.

We request all our members to post their Fan-made Playing XII in this thread. Any separate posts on this topic shall be removed.

In the words of Guru Gambhir, You guys are representing a very successful franchise, make sure you post that way, engage that way, and ensure you maintain that attitude both in the stands and off the field on reddit and other social media.

Hope you understand and appreciate our move and effort.

Regards,

KKR Mod Team.

The difference in mindset.

Yes we won. But are you genuinely feeling that fire and confidence after the win? Probably not. Because even you know that the intent is missing.

Nayar is failing to understand that this is not his winter coaching camp. This is the most elite and the most competitive league in the world. And you need to be ruthless to even be considered for the Top 4. A Winning dressing room is a Happy & Smiling Dressing room.

When players do not perform after 50% of the tournament is over, you need to bench them (looking at you Ramandeep), and try the ones who are waiting for their turn on the bench, otherwise it's not fair to them.

KKR and the VICE Captaincy CURSE

Ever since KKR started the trend of appointing Vice Captains, it has turned into the 'Kiss of Death' for that particular individual. The performance drops, and eventually within 2 years, that player is released from the team.

In 2015, KKR appointed Surya Kumar Yadav as their Vice Captain. He had a torrid run with the bat, and eventually he was released after 2017.

IPL 2015:

Runs Scored: 157 runs | Strike Rate: 138.93 | Batting Average: 17.44

IPL 2016

Runs Scored: 182 runs | Strike Rate: 127.27 | Batting Average: 26.00

IPL 2017

Runs Scored: 105 runs | Strike Rate: 119.31 | Batting Average: 17.5

In 2018, KKR appointed Robin Uthappa as the deputy to Dinesh Karthik. He too seemed like a shadow of his former-self. He scored 351 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders with a batting average of 21.94 and a strike rate of 132.45.

In the following 2019 season, he scored 282 runs while maintaining a higher average of 31.33, though his strike rate decreased to 115.10.

In 2021, After stepping down from Captaincy, Dinesh Karthik assumed the role of Vice Captaincy. He scored 223 runs in 17 matches with a batting average of 22.30 and maintained a strike rate of 131.17. Note, he stepped down from captaincy to mainly focus on his batting and was primarily playing as a batter that season.

In 2024, Nitish Rana was appointed the Vice Captain. He was sidelined due to a finger injury that sidelined him for ten consecutive matches. He appeared in only 2 matches, scoring a total of 42 runs. In 2025, he was released.

In 2025, Venky Iyer was appointed vice captain after being bought for 23 crores. He scored a total of 142 runs across 11 matches. He finished the tournament with a batting average of 20.29 and a strike rate of 139.22, and was eventually released.

In 2026, Rinku Singh has been appointed the vice captain, and his performance has been probably his career worst. A total of 79 runs in 5 innings. He currently holds a batting average of 19.75 and a strike rate of 117.91.

Other than that, KKR had no vice captain in 2008,09,10,11,12,13,14, 22, and 2023.

So I believe, any player who is offered Vice Captaincy by the KKR Management should respectfully turn it down, for the sake of both himself individually and the team as a whole.
