Is investing in local SEO worth it vs just scaling Google Ads?

I’m currently spending a decent amount on Google Ads, and while it works it feels like I’m renting traffic rather than building anything long term.

I’ve been looking into local SEO services in AU and improving our presence on Google (especially maps) but I’m unsure how long it realistically takes to see results.

From what I’ve read ads give immediate traffic, while SEO builds over time but I’m trying to understand the actual ROI in practice.

For those who’ve made the switch (or balanced both) did SEO reduce your reliance on ads?

And what kind of SEO pricing should I expect for ongoing work?

If you’ve done it, how was your first time managing a remote global team?

My first experience with global hiring turned into managing a fully remote team across a few different time zones and it was honestly a mix of excitement and chaos.

On one hand, bringing in people from different countries really improved how we approached problems. There was a lot more creativity and different perspectives compared to hiring locally.

On the other hand, remote team management was harder than expected. Scheduling, async communication, and even small misunderstandings added up quickly.

We also underestimated how complex international hiring compliance can get, especially around contracts and local regulations.

Overall still worth it, but definitely not as simple as it sounds at the start.

Curious how others handled their first global hires what caught you off guard?

Anyone successfully pivot out of SEO into a different career?

I’ve been working in digital marketing for about 6 to 7 years now, mostly across content, SEO, and some general marketing work.

Over the last few years I’ve focused more on SEO but I’m starting to feel pretty burnt out with it.

Between constant algorithm changes, client expectations and trying to prove ROI it’s getting harder to stay motivated.

I’m thinking about a career change but not sure where to go from here.

I know there are a lot of transferable skills (writing, analytics, strategy) but I’m struggling to figure out what roles actually make sense outside of digital marketing jobs.

Has anyone here made a similar move? What did you pivot into?
