"IMPRESSIVE FOR A LOCAL PRODUCTION"
Sobrang naiinis ako when I read "glowing" reviews about a local production tapos they would say that they were "not expecting much kasi it was a local production" or kasi "the cast is comprised mostly of local talent".
It's such a backhanded compliment that tells me they know nothing about the local industry and local talent.
Oo, bigay na natin sa ibang foreign productions that they have the money to execute production amazingly from a technical perspective pero iba yung talent ng Pinoy.
Consider this, most foreign, touring, or even productions that you will watch abroad run for long stretches. Some even Years. Their performances might look calculated, very rehearsed, for efficiency and also sustainability. Local Production usually only run for WEEKS, bihira lang tumatagal ng lagpas isang month or two. They only have very limited runs and shows to prove themselves and share their story.
Anyway.... stop underestimating local theater! Support it! Iba ang talentong Pinoy!!!
