Thinking of taking another gap year
I graduated high school in 2024, and took a gap year because I was unsure of what I wanted to do or if I even wanted to go to school. I struggled in high school and barely graduated due to mental health issues. In the fall of 2025 I decided to attend my local community college, and am currently finishing up my spring semester. I love school, I love learning, and I love interacting with the people that attend my school. However, I am thinking of taking another gap year to focus on working on myself and getting to a strong place mentally and physically, as well as financially. I know this is the right move for me, but I am scared of “falling behind” my peers. I am 20 years old, and by the time I transfer from community I will be 22 years old. I know everyone takes things at their own pace, but I feel ashamed for struggling so much. Has anybody else felt this way regarding taking a gap year?
