I made A BRAW monitoring LUT. I recently switched to Blackmagic. After couple shoots relying completely on the default monitoring LUT that comes with the BMCC 6K, I realized it was quite deceiving. Well i'm not saying it's bad i would say it didn't suit my workflow and made me make bad decisions in production(underexposing, etc).
I wanted a monitoring LUT that could translate exactly what i see, recorded with no major changes while editing. I made LOTTO LUT, it makes me expose for the highlights or in another term to the right while protecting them just enough to avoid clipping. This keeps the shadow remarkably clean and free of noise. I figured i should share it here in case this could help anyone out there.
I had fun reviewing this lens, initially i was skeptical because of the variable aperture but i realized if you shooting this wide you want everything to be in focus, so chasing a lower aperture is not a necessity anymore, unless you fighting with less to no light 😅. Let me know what you think : )
