Initial thoughts on the I9 coming from Rivian and Tesla
I previously owned a Model Y then a Model X and recently traded in a Rivian R1S for the I9 Limited. Here are my initial thoughts comparing the cars.
The I9 is very quiet and ride is smooth. the power is on par if not better than my R1S dual motor. Steering feel is nice and heavy on sport mode.
I am enjoying the captains chairs and ability to get in 3rd row without effort.
The software isn't bad, native Hyundai UI feels old school, Apple Car Play helps but I really did enjoy Tesla and Rivian UI more. OTA updates were more robust and feature packed vs Hyundai.
Not having ability to unlock the car walking away is very odd. I've done this for the past 5 years, now I have to remember to touch the door or press the fob. (also hate carrying the ugly fob)
I miss the large frunk and subtrunk that the Rivian had. I used to put random things like jump starters in there.
Not being able to use built in dashcam is odd. Now I have to find aftermarket solutions.
The sound system is so awesome compared to my Rivian. Hopefully they'll give us a better EQ in the future.
Car overall feels well built and solid. I don't feel any rattles or squeaks (looking at your Tesla)
It's nice to have a dealer 10 min away vs 45 min away and 1 month out appointments.
I enjoy having much cheaper payments than my X or R1S 😄
