Do you ever feel like your writing sounds better in your head than on the page?

I keep running into this weird thing where an idea feels really strong when I’m thinking about it, but the moment I try to write it down, it just… flattens out. Like I’ll imagine a scene with tension, subtext, all that, and then I read what I actually wrote and it feels basic or obvious. I’ve tried outlining more, editing less while drafting, even switching POV, but it still happens pretty often

Is this just part of the process? Or did you find something that helped bridge that gap between “idea brain” and actual writing?

Is there still a real need for quality custom printed merch, such as t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc, or is that a completely dead market?

Thinking of starting a small business offering custom printing services. T-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc. I want to focus on print quality, not iron-on transfers like you get from bulk suppliers.

The problem is, I honestly have no idea if there's a real need for this kind of service or if people just use Printful and be done with it. I see a lot of small businesses, local businesses, event organizers, etc., complaining about POD quality and how they wish they could control the process themselves. But I also see a hundred businesses that do exactly what I'd be offering.

Is quality really the differentiator, or is something else at play? Something such as speed, no minimums, local pickup? What was it for you when you ordered custom merch?
