What recording settings or features do you wish more apps had?

Hey everyone! I've been thinking a lot lately about what makes a recording app actually useful for field recording, not just a generic voice memo tool. I'm actually working on an app at the moment and wanted to ask the people who know best.

I put together a screenshot of what I have so far (attached). One idea (already implemented) is an auto-stop at a set duration (10s to 240s) so you avoid handling noise when manually stopping the recording, a long recording mode over 5 minutes that automatically finds the best possible loop within the recording, and a simple clean recording mode with no processing at all. „Loops“ are not so relevant for recording this is just a feature I will provide to make it possible to endlessly listen to what you recorded.

But I'm curious what you would want. For example I could imagine something like a short recording delay could be useful, so you have time to step away from your gear before it starts capturing without disturbing the environment. But what do you wish you could set before hitting record?

Would love to hear what's missing from the tools you currently use.

Field recording for sleep?

I love recording sounds from nature and using them to fall asleep. I also take a photo of the location, so I have both a visual and an auditory impression…two senses that help me drift into deep sleep. Does anyone else do this? Most of my friends don’t get it, but it genuinely works for me.

Zoom H1essential with iPhone

I plan to connect the Zoom H1essential with the iPhone 17 Pro Max to record sound via the app „myLoop“ the app can connect to any device with bluetooth. Has anyone else made experience with iPhone, app and external device recording?
