I currently own a G5 3qt saute pan that this might replace. I'm not crazy about the performance of that pan vis a vis evenness or heat retention. I have small hobs and this seems significantly thicker than my G5 or Copper Core stuff which I expect might help it retain heat better.

Has anyone here cooked with the older models and can speak to how they perform vs the newer G3 that replaced them?

The second AllClad I've found at Goodwill in under two weeks. Before and after a vigorous scrub with Bar Keepers Friend.

I can't get the handle any cleaner. I've tried BKF and a tooth brush but it just won't come clean. Otherwise I'd say the effort paid off!

Second Goodwill AllClad in 2 weeks. This looks like an older 3qt skillet, I think only the inside is stainless. Are these as good as the newer ones?

Was filthy so I gave it a lye bath. No wobble. Cooking surface very smooth, outer surface maybe half as rough as a modern lodge. Has three pronounced notches, one shallow on the heat ring near the handle.

I (39M) was discussing finances with my partner (40F) earlier today. We're feeling the squeeze from the increased cost of living and trying to figure where we can cut corners. It dawned on me looking through my checking account how many small purchases I make in a month

Possibly $200+ in bullshit. $40 in the vending machine at work. $30 in La Croix. $30 in bottled ice tea. I don't even want to think about how much my partner spends on drive thru lattes and K-Cups. It's fine to like and want things, but man, I don't know why it struck me how thoughtlessly I pull out my debit card for little things I don't need on impulse. There are a combination of factors that drive this consumption that vary depending on the thing.

I'm awestruck on just how much shit I consume that I don't need. Has anyone else ever felt this way?

Home and Cook Sales Packaging Damage Allclad 12" D5 Polished w/ lid. Kenji Lopez Alt's The Food Lab, Bar Keepers Friend, and a scrub daddy.

His birthday was the 27th, his wife's is today the 30th, and he moved into his house a year ago but never had a house warming party. Going over there Friday to celebrate the three things.

I fucked up and used the skillet to boil water to see how evenly it heated compared to my G5 and Copper Clad stuff and now I have some marks on the bottom I should try to rid w/ vinegar or BKF.

Dude is constantly talking about wanting to cook more at home, to venture out and get more competent in the kitchen. I feel like stainless steel is like a posture correcting chair in that it forces you to learn how to manage temperature and fat. I would be stoked to get this gift as an aspiring home chef, but what do you think? Did I do gud?
