I scored a 260 for my 266 jurisdiction, so I’m looking for the states that offer the simplest transfer process. I’m a bit restricted because my MPRE is 81, which I believe leaves Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma or New Mexico. Thoughts on how easy it is to navigate the process for any of those?
I’ve lurked on these posts for a long time but I thought maybe it would be cathartic by posting this time around. I just took the DC bar and missed it by 6 points, and for full clarity, this was my 3rd time taking a bar exam (the first two tries were in MD). The MD attempts were before MD switched to UBE over 8 years ago and the passing score needed was 406, so in comparison I’m finally in striking distance with my latest score. (I’ve enclosed my score sheets to see the gradual progression).
I will admit I’m glad to finally be in close range because my prior two attempts I was well below the points needed for the passing score, not sure how the MD score was calculated in comparison to UBE but I’ll take 6 points over those scores any day. At the same time, I can’t help but feel frustrated by 6 points keeping me from the finish line.
Technically, with 260 I could still apply for admission for other states where that’s a passing score, but they’re states that I likely would never work in so I’m still set on DC. All in all, I think I just really need to hone in even more on my essays and time management because I recognized during the test this time around that the essays that I got my lowest scores in were ones that I just simply did not give myself enough time to try to muster something for at least an average score to help me - ate into too much time for the second MPT and felt very flustered during the secured transactions question.
Really hoping that I can finally close this chapter for good after this next time sitting for this test, July 26. Welcoming any advice or tips for repeat takers.
