Am planning to coat watercolor paper with clear gesso to create pastel paper. I’ve seen people recommend mixing pumice or sand into the gesso, or sanding the dried gesso in between layers to add tooth — any technique recommendations/ideas of what to expect? I’m hoping for a velvety sort of surface to practice on, doesn’t need to be perfect.
