So we all know the standard shock mount is pretty bad. I use the MKE 600 with rubber extensions to make it fit but it still just transfers so much handling noise.
How do you mount your microphone differently? I took the standard shock mount down and wanted to come up with a solution to replace it with either the stock Sennheiser or with Rycote/Rode shock mounts but can’t figure out a way to do it so it’s not too tall and so you can’t see it with a 24 mm lens. Any ideas?

Just finished my first paid shoot on the FX3 and ran into a problem.

Client wanted both horizontal and vertical. I shot everything horizontal and reframed in post—but I didn’t realize how much I’d lose until editing. The crop was way bigger than expected. Since the FX3 doesn’t have open gate, how are you guys handling this?

Do you:

• frame wider for safety?
• use guides / markers?
• just accept the crop?
• or shoot differently altogether?

Would really appreciate any workflows or tips—still pretty new to paid work and want to get this right going forward.
