Is this tear concerning?

Hi everyone,

I recently had an MRI on my left knee and it shows a medial meniscus posterior horn tear with some joint fluid. My doctor didn’t seem too concerned he is just monitoring and take it easy.

The thing is, I don’t really have pain, I can walk normally. I was feeling some fullness/swelling in my knee, however i subdued it with ice compress and medicines .

I’m a bit confused and honestly anxious after reading a lot online.

- Does this kind of tear sound serious to you?

- Has anyone had a similar MRI result and recovered without surgery?

- Is it normal for swelling to fluctuate like this?

Would really appreciate your experiences or advice. Thanks!

Any useful tips?

Hi everyone,

I recently had an MRI on my knee and the report says I have a medial meniscus tear (posterior horn) along with some fluid in the joint. The good news is that I don’t have pain and I can walk normally — I mostly just feel a kind of fullness or heaviness when I bend my knee.

My ACL shows mild signal changes (possibly tendinosis), but no rupture, and the other ligaments are intact.

I’m honestly a bit confused and anxious because I wasn’t expecting a tear without real pain. Has anyone here had a similar situation?

•	Can a meniscus tear heal or calm down on its own if symptoms are mild?

•	Is it safe to stay active (walking, light daily activities)?

•	What signs should I watch for that mean things are getting worse?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks in advance!
