Immediate family wants to help with car purchase
father in law has a savings account (which my wife is on) and wants to write us a check to place in her account to help with vehicle purchase.
do we still need to worry about declaring a gift if the amount is over 19k or because she is on the account the irs treats it as her money transfering from her account to another?
