Does anyone have some recommendations on cute neighborhoods to just walk around? I just moved to a suburb outside of Augsburg and would love to walk around some cute, quiet neighborhoods for mother's Day this weekend.

I've been to the main square as well as Wittelsbach park.

I am pregnant, so nothing crazy please. Thank you!

Would I be insane to try to get another bachelor's in engineering or physics?

I am in my early 30s (f) and really want to go back to university and actually have a good, stable, well-paying career.

Background: I got a BA in Anthropology when I was 19. I am extremely proud of that accomplishment but I was so young and naive with no help or guidance to choose a career path. So naturally I chose what was interesting to me and did very well in college. As you can imagine, I wasn't able to find a job in that field after graduating.

Now I am older, with two young kids and a very supportive husband and would love to go back to school for something more useful. I have multiple friends with Phds in physics who have super interesting jobs and have encouraged me to look into it if I am interested at all.

I am terrified at thinking about the math those degrees require. I actually did super well in my math classes in high school receiving As (I took up to calculus). I even had a teacher tell me once that I should pursue a career in something math related. I was just young and wasn't particularly interested in math even though I was good at it. Plus high school math isn't necessarily a good indicator for university level math.

Now my concern is that it has been over 10 years since I've had to do anything math related! That's a very long time and I don't remember anything from high school. In addition to having two small children, I'm not sure this is a smart idea.

Has anyone done something similar? Am I insane? Or should I maybe pursue something that won't be so difficult.

Thank you 😅

Edit: You all have been so nice and encouraging, thank you!

Best career for foreign mother in Germany?

I need some recommendations on a career shift as a foreigner living in Germany. I'm 30 and currently not working as I'm taking care of two young kids at home while my husband works full time.

I'm at a complete loss on the direction I should pivot towards. I moved to Germany a few years ago but I'm only around a b1 level.

My background: got a BA in Anthropology (absolutely useless), worked as a veterinary assistant for a few years but got completely burnt out. Worked a few office admin jobs but didn't really enjoy that, and we moved around quite a few times so I never stayed long. Now I am in Germany (from the US) and have the opportunity to start over.

Because my kids are so young, I'm looking for a career that has a good work life balance and I'm struggling about which direction to commit to.

One of my biggest concerns is job security. I see everywhere how there are massive layoffs in quite a few fields. My husband works in cyber security and highly encourages the IT field as it has nice hours and higher pay (and in English which is a huge plus!) but I'm afraid IT is not a good field to go into right now.

I've considered nursing but the hours and work conditions seem awful. I've considered going back to university for engineering or physics but I haven't been in school in 10 years and not sure I would be able to handle it after so long, let alone in a foreign language.

I wouldn't be looking to start until at least 1-2 years and plan on studying German as much as I can in the meantime.

Any recommendations on a direction? I realize this is long and a bit vague but any help is useful. My interests have always been in humanities but I want a job so I figured switching to stem would be best. I'm stuck 😅
