Repair Advice
Looking for some advice on repairing Achilles Hypalon RIB. First time inflatable owner. Just bought this boat from another person and want to get things all nice before I drop it in the soup for the first ride!
The seam tape is beginning to curl up on the underside of both tubes back towards the stern of the boat. Looks like the layers in the CSM may be pulling apart. This is on the bow side of the tape, so it make sense that water maybe have caused this to happen if perhaps the boat was over inflated.
Was going to start by gluing this back down and then follow with a patch of Hypalon over it.
For gluing the seam tape back together, I am worried the normal sand and acetone to prep surface will deteriorate the seam tape glue surrounding the curled up area (from acetone seepage?). Also don’t really plan on trying to remove any of the under layer of the tape where the separation is - just scuff it up and rub down with acetone.
The patch itself after gluing the seam down seems straightforward enough. Mainly looking for tips on how to glue the seam tape back together.
