Is telling your daughter to cover up when men come around to visit objectifying them?

For context I’m 17 (F) grew up in a Muslim household and Muslim myself, but ever since I was little probably around 6 I remember being told to cover up my body whenever men come around and to cover my hair , which I guess I’ve become accustomed to. I don’t want to go against my beliefs or anything but I feel like the concept of women covering themselves so that they don’t appeal to men seems quite objectifying and slightly dehumanising or is it just me , as well as them being told to “lower their gaze” when looking at women, it makes me feel like I’m being portrayed more as an appealing object rather than just a person 😭. Idk let me know what you guys think
