This postcard, written in Esperanto and mailed from Tabriz to Paris in August 1921, contains a message from Morteza Khan Eftekhar Daftar to an “Estimata samideano” (“esteemed fellow Esperantist”).

Eftekhar Daftar was among the early Esperanto pioneers in the Sheshgelan district of Tabriz, Iran.

Iran was once among the leading supporters of Esperanto internationally. After World War I, Iran even proposed adopting Esperanto as an international language at the League of Nations - a move ultimately vetoed by France.
