My stupidly simple transistor radio. 1 transistor, 1coil, 1baterry, 1 speaker that’s it. To tune it you put your finger on the coil and slide it across the coil till you get the right station.

Could someone (me) make a diode that’s designed to exaggerate tones?

So I’ve got a box full of semi conductor materials right and I LOVE making diodes but I noticed something, a crappy homemade diode is basically just a directional resistor due to their high leakage. I also thought about how I have made home made zener diodes out of materials like fools gold and SiC . So I had a eureka moment what if I combined the crappy leakage with a zener to make a diode where it has a high resistance (when backwards biased) until a certain voltage and then it has low resistance. I know it seems like a pretty simple idea and also like a crappy knock off varistor but I think I could use it to like distort audio or something of that sort.
