Help with first thrombosed hemorrhoid?

Hi everyone!

Never did I once think I'd find myself in this subreddit and yet, here we are. I've read some of your testimonies and let me just say, you're all so brave. Hemorrhoids honestly sound like a hell to go through and you're all handling it like champs.

I, am not. The possible hemorrhoid isn't mine, but my boyfriend's. He's 36 but recently hurt himself wiping with rough public bathroom toilet paper and a week later continued to say he had an uncomfortable scratch on his bum. Worried as I am, I had to take a look.

What I saw was a blue-ish lump, external, around the size of maybe a peanut M&M? I immediately thought of something worse but convinced myself it's an hemorrhoid as he also spends 90% of his day sitting due to his job.

We are doing sitz baths and applying hemorrhoid cream but I'm still worried. It definitely looks thrombosed because it's blueish and firm, but yesterday it was softer.

The main red flag for me is that he says it doesn't hurt. I touched it, he touched it, he sits normally, has bowel movements, it doesn't hurt him at all.

Reading your stories, thrombosed hemorrhoids sound incredibly painful so is it concerning his isn't hurting? Any help would be great. I appreciate you, this subreddit and your courage with these little bastards.
