I’m ‌helping ‌a ‌relative try to track down someone they haven’t heard from in years. All we’ve got is a first name and an old phone number.

Already did the basic stuff, web searches, social media, trying different spellings, and it’s been a dead end. What I can’t tell is whether those people-search sites can even pull anything meaningful from this.

If you’ve ever found someone with this little to go on, how did you do it?

Any sensible steps, public records, or search tricks that are worth exhausting before paying for a people-finder site?
