This is my Final Audio D7000, driven by Fiio BTR17. Although these planars are 89dB sensitivity, this dac drives them in High power mode very well.
The headphones are very clear, and instrument separation is just amazing. Soundstage is great as well, which is logical considering their cost. Listening to everything, starting from my own mixes from a decade ago (I'm a sound engineer) to the modern metal, jazz and even some house music. They are not harsh in the middle, like the LCD-XC I also own, but just let you hear everything, compared to listening to the music in Genelec speakers
I got my Beyerdynamic T1.3 two years ago, and even though I paid almost 700€ for them, as a brand fan, I hardly could push myself to listen to them. Applying the EQ to my DAC which supposed to correct the issue still very weird to me, and the clarity was never there, to be honest. So, I did NOT think the HiRes logo on Beyerdynamic web site is there for nothing, and started to flip-flop around, and came across the post on Reddit about people have same issues and feelings about something is being wrong.
So, as the post is archived now and I cannot reply there with pictures, I create this post here. Please enjoy. Basically, I don't know what made Beyerdynamic think that absorber disc should be placed in front of their flagship Tesla speakers, but you can have a look at the EQ in pinned post from Oratory1990 - no highs and big boost bell 150-800Hz, which didn't do a good result on sound.
I just removed the velour earpad (photo is without earpad already), and lifted the plastic ring. The absorbed disc is easily removable, not glued or anything to the driver, just kept there with the plastic ring, that holds the driver as well. The driver itself has a nylon protective mesh on it, so keeping it without that disc is completely safe, according to my feeling.
Having a chance - have a look as well what the Tesla drivers look like in an audiophile model of Beyer headphones (I believe these are most expensive from their line, together with the closed T5 model).
