Does anyone have any ideas on how the CSS ALBEMARLE looked under deck? I’m planning on making a 1:40 scale model of the boat, and I HAVE NO IDEA what the boilers, engines, coal bunker, captain quarters…. If anyone has any plans, ideas please share
I’m planning on making a O scale USS Cairo, WITH 5 SEPERATE BOILERS (all connected to one steam drum and 2 mud drums) but I genuinely can’t find ANY References to multiple boiler plants
It’s just a quick drawing for me to visualise my build
It is a scale drawing, boiler is 20mm diameter each, and 5, 4mm fire flues running to the aft and into a smoke box where it’s redirected back to the funnel. It has a steam pump to provide constant water, so it doesn’t dry out. Has a blow down valve to clear water and oil in the steam drum. Safety valve pops at 15psi.
You may wondering, “why boilers only”

I’m planning to make a museum quality model of the CSS Richmond ironclad from the civil war, I’m using the microcosm G1B, which is a reciprocal engine that almost identically matches the actual engine for the authenticity, if anyone can give me any tips to build a hull, that would be greatly appreciated, I’m planning to just 3d model it and 3d print a structure to plank on 😭
